This class will meet on Sundays of June 2 through August 11 (9AM-10AM):
Character Quest Study This is a church-wide Sunday school class for adults and kids at Dover called "Character Quest" that will focus on character development. Nursery will be provided up to age 4. It will meet from June 2 through August 11. Displaying strong character in our lives can be a powerful witness to others. St. Francis of Assissi once said, “Preach the gospel at all times, use words when necessary.” Our study will focus on character development in the areas of gratitude, respect, courage, honesty, and resourcefulness. These traits don’t come naturally and each requires a strengthening of ones will and is formed through practice. We must always rely on the power of the Holy Spirit and ask for God’s help in giving us the strength to keep working toward being more grateful, honest, diligent, etc. Yet, we still have a part in exercising our will toward developing strong character. How is character attained? Just like physical muscles require frequent workouts to stay in shape, character has to be regularly worked out. In this curriculum, each trait is addressed with specific exercises to strengthen that particular aspect of character. Each week’s study consists of discussions activities, questions, journal questions, and weekly practice. One of the main goals is to take what you learned from the activities and apply it to your daily life. It is by practicing these traits that character development takes place.
